Our Ethics

Gifts and Entertainment

We require our business interactions to be free of improper influence.

The giving of personal gifts to healthcare professionals is not permitted. For non-healthcare professionals, where permissible by Indivior applicable policy, we do not provide gifts or entertainment to improperly influence a decision or outcome.

As a principle-based organization, we don’t define a value that determines inappropriateness. Consequently, related to your Indivior work, it is important to seek guidance and approval before providing or receiving a personal gift or hospitality to or from an external person or organization.

Refer to country-specific Written Standards for relevant prohibitions or established limits on gifts and approvals and any associated external reporting required.

Scenario

Nigel has been a key member of the IT team and was recently promoted.

A software vendor learned of Nigel’s promotion and sent over cupcakes and soda in a $400 Yeti cooler featuring the software company’s logo.

Nigel shared the treats with the team and took the cooler home to use when boating.

Was it appropriate for Nigel to accept the gift? Should Nigel have notified anyone when receiving the gift?

Was it appropriate for Nigel to take the cooler home? What steps should have been taken?

Generally receiving a gift to acknowledge a milestone is ok as long as it’s not tied to any related business deal, and is not lavish or excessive. In this example, the food and drink was fine, but the cooler was inappropriate (too expensive) and Nigel should not have taken it home.

If a gift is sent around the time when a vendor is being selected for a contract, it should not be accepted.
